Rene was born and raised in Pittsburgh and went to Taylor Allderdice High School. In 2007, she moved to Weirton, WV. She previously worked as a Public Benefits Advocate at a well-known medical center in the region and she has also worked on a national study, interviewing Medicare beneficiaries in their homes in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Ohio.

Outside of the office, Rene keeps herself busy with three children and a granddaughter. For fun, she enjoys walking, Zumba, going to the movies and watching her children play sports.

Rene’s 2015 Chaffin Luhana Foundation Charity donation was to the Community Bread Basket in Weirton, WV. Rene said the Community Bread Basket continues to be near and dear to her heart. She said her church collected donations weekly for the Bread Basket. Rene said she knew this charity had helped many in the community who did not have enough money to afford food.

For 2017, Rene nominated Child Find of America, a national not-for-profit organization that provides services designed to prevent and resolve child abduction. As a mother, Rene is proud to support this organization which receives over 15,000 calls for help each year.

“My father was a union witness at an arbitration in a steel mill outside of Pittsburgh. After the hearing, my father, dressed in blue jeans and a sweatshirt, stuck out his hand to shake hands with the company’s lawyer. The lawyer refused. The lawyer was not upset because my dad got the best of him but because he frowned upon working class people. I was the first person in my family to graduate from college. My dad used this story to remind me to respect others, to remember where I came from and as an example of how not to conduct myself as a lawyer.”
