About:

The Law Clerk will be responsible for initial client interviews, gathering case information, documents, and assisting attorneys in preparations for trial. 

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct initial client interviews to gather case information and document injuries and damages.  
  • Assist attorneys in preparing for trials, hearings, mediations, and depositions by managing and organizing case files, exhibits, and other documents.  
  • Conduct legal research on relevant laws, regulations, and legal articles to assist in case preparation.  
  • Draft legal documents, including pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and responses under an attorney’s supervision.  
  • Liaise with clients, witnesses, court personnel, and other professionals to coordinate interviews, meetings, and court dates.  
  • Manage and maintain schedules and deadlines for multiple cases to ensure timely filings and compliance with court requirements.  
  • Obtain, review, and organize medical records, police reports, and other evidence critical to each case.  
  • Prepare and send correspondence to clients, insurance companies, and opposing counsel.  
  • Assist in the preparation of settlement documents.  
  • Perform administrative duties as needed, such as filing, photocopying, and managing incoming and outgoing mail. 

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree or higher in Paralegal Studies, Legal Studies, or a related field. Bachelor’s degree preferred.  
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a law clerk or paralegal, preferably in personal injury law.  
  • Strong understanding of legal terminology, court procedures, and documentation related to personal injury cases.  
  • Excellent research, writing, and communication skills.  
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.  
  • High attention to detail and organizational skills.  
  • Proficiency in legal research software and Microsoft Office Suite.  
  • Compassionate and professional demeanor with the ability to maintain confidentiality and exhibit sensitivity to client needs.

  • Proven ability to assist attorneys and senior level paralegals.  
  • Experience as a paralegal or legal assistant in a law firm setting, preferably a mass tort or personal injury firm.   
  • Experience with drafting and filing complaints and other pleadings.  
  • Experience and ability to review medical information and summarize the same with little supervision.  
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft suite and demonstrated comfort with technology.

  • Friendly and calming phone etiquette – you can remain patient even in the most stressful situations.  
  • Strong time management and multitasking skills – things get busy!  
  • High attention to detail and superior organizational skills.
