Crews respond to tractor-trailer crash, fire on I-79 near Bridgeville

PITTSBURGH, PA – Major rush-hour delays were reported Thursday afternoon after a tractor-trailer crashed and caught fire near Bridgeville.

According to KDKA, the crash happened sometime before 6:30 p.m. in the southbound lanes of I-79 near Exit 54 to Route 50.

The cause of the crash is unclear at this time. Photos from the scene show the truck with front end and serious fire damages in the center lane of the parkway.

All southbound lanes were closed for some time following the crash while crews worked to knock down the blaze and clear the roadway.

It is unclear if anyone suffered injuries as a result of the crash or fire.
