News: 1 airlifted after major crash on PA-28 near NE Pittsburgh

ALLEGHENY COUNTY, PA — One person was flown to a hospital Wednesday morning after a serious collision on Route 28 near northeast Pittsburgh, reports CBS Pittsburgh.

The accident happened on the northbound lanes at Exit 8 to Freeport Road, near The Waterworks Shopping Center.

Few details have been shared, but all northbound traffic came to a brief standstill as a medical helicopter arrived on the scene. One patient was airlifted to a local hospital with unknown injuries.

Traffic later resumed in the area but one lane remained blocked as authorities investigated.
