News: 1 critically injured as vehicle hits pole in downtown Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH, PA — One person was hospitalized early Thursday after a single-vehicle accident in downtown Pittsburgh’s Cultural District, reports WPXI.

The collision occurred near the intersection of Grant Street and Fort Pitt Boulevard, off Interstate 376, at around 2:15 a.m.

Few details have been released, but authorities said a vehicle collided with a utility pole.

Pittsburgh EMS crews rushed one person to an area hospital, where the patient was listed in critical condition. It was unclear whether the victim was the driver or a passenger in the impacted vehicle.

The vehicle sustained severe damage and had to be cleared, blocking the area for some time.

An investigation was in progress.
