News: 1 hurt as garbage truck slams into Shaler residence

ALLEGHENY COUNTY, PA — One person was hospitalized last Tuesday morning, April 18, when a waste truck crashed into a home in the Glenshaw area of Shaler Township, reports WPXI.

The accident occurred in the 2900 block of Greenfield Drive. First responders were dispatched to the scene at about 9:20 a.m.

While the cause of the wreck remains unclear, footage captured at the scene suggests the truck traveled through a yard and struck a number of bushes. It then appeared to hit an above-ground pool before colliding with the house.

Dispatchers confirmed one person was transported by ambulance to a local hospital. At this time, officials have not disclosed the severity of the patient’s condition. It was not immediately clear whether the person injured was in the truck or the home at the time of the crash.

No charges have been reported as of this writing.
