News: 2 airlifted after multi-car wreck on Route 51 in Perryopolis

FAYETTE COUNTY, PA — Two people were injured Thursday afternoon due to a multi-car crash on Route 51 in the Perryopolis borough, according to WPXI.

Emergency crews responded to the scene near Independence Street shortly after receiving a call at about 2:20 p.m.

The circumstances behind the event remain unclear at this time, but three cars were involved.

Two patients were transported by airlift to an area hospital, indicating major injuries.

By the time of WXPI’s report, shortly before 10:00 p.m., the scene had been cleared and all lanes were reopened.

An investigation into the cause of the accident remains ongoing.
