News: 2 dead after motorcycle overturns in Mercer County crash

MERCER COUNTY, PA — A man and a woman have died following a motorcycle accident Saturday evening in south Mercer County, according to WPXI.

Pennsylvania State Police said the fatal crash happened off New Castle Mercer Road, northeast of New Wilmington. It was first reported at around 6:42 p.m.

A preliminary investigation found that a 71-year-old man was operating a motorcycle southbound when he failed to negotiate a left curve. Moments later, the motorcycle veered off the right side of the roadway and lost control before rolling over.

His passenger, Elissa Kennedy, 69, died from her injuries at the scene.

The male operator, Dennis Kennedy, 71, was airlifted to an area hospital with major injuries. Officials said he succumbed to his injuries on Sunday.

At this time, the cause of the wreck remains unclear. No further information has been released.
