News: 3 hospitalized after rollover wreck in Hempfield

WESTMORELAND COUNTY, PA — A 68-year-old New Stanton man was seriously hurt Friday night in a two-vehicle crash at a Hempfield intersection, reports TribLIVE.

The collision occurred in the area of Arona Road and Davinci Drive at about 8:30 p.m.

An early investigation shows a Toyota Sienna carrying two occupants was slowing down at the intersection to make a left turn. The New Stanton man was driving a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck when he failed to slow down as he approached from behind.

Officials said the male driver hit the driver’s side of the minivan as he tried to pass the minivan by crossing the center line. The pickup then ran off the roadway, struck a utility pole. The impact of the wreck caused the pickup to roll over twice.

The Stanton man was rushed to UPMC Presbyterian with serious injuries.

Two occupants in the minivan, both Greensburg residents, were also sent to the hospital. They are believed to have suffered minor injuries.

No other details have been shared at this time.
