News: Fleeing driver extricated after rollover crash in Collier Township

ALLEGHENY COUNTY, PA — A 29-year-old man faces multiple charges after a police pursuit Thursday morning in Collier Township ended with a rollover crash, reports WPXI.

The events first unfolded shortly before 2:20 a.m. in the 500 block of Washington Pike, where Bridgeville Police Department officers spotted the man driving a black SUV erratically.

Authorities said the suspect’s SUV had struck two cast-iron light poles and ran through a flower bed when he sped away. As the fleeing vehicle approached Vanadium Road at high speed, it hit a dip in the road. Moments later, the suspect lost control of the vehicle which flipped onto its hood.

The driver, who had to be extricated from the vehicle, was taken to a local hospital. No other injuries were reported.

Bridgeville police chief Chad King said the suspect displayed signs of intoxication at the scene. Charges pending against him include “DUI” and “fleeing.”
