News: Mail truck hits flatbed truck on I-70 offramp in Westmoreland County

WESTMORELAND COUNTY, PA — A mail truck collided with a construction truck last Wednesday on Interstate 70 in South Huntingdon Township, reports WTAE.

The accident happened on the Exit 53 ramp from I-70 westbound to Huntingdon Street. It was reported on the morning of September 7 at 10:40 a.m.

Pennsylvania State Police said a 20-year-old man was driving a mail truck when he merged onto the offramp. He told authorities he then saw a construction flatbed truck ahead with its emergency lights flashing.

Despite attempts to avoid a wreck, the young man rear-ended the other truck.

WTAE said the mail truck driver sustained a “suspected minor injury,” but it was unclear whether he was taken to a hospital.

No other injuries were reported.

Officials noted the construction truck was legally parked on the ramp at the time of the wreck. No further details have been shared.
