News: Motorcyclist dies after crash on College Ave in Hempfield

WESTMORELAND COUNTY, PA — A 21-year-old Penn Township man died Monday night after a motorcycle wreck on College Avenue in Hempfield, according to TribLIVE.

Pennsylvania State Police said the fatal crash happened on College Avenue (Pennsylvania State Highway 130) near Weber Road. It was first reported at around 9:18 p.m.

An early investigation shows the young man was operating a 2019 Harley-Davidson Street Glide motorcycle westbound. At one point, he lost control and separated from the bike.

State police said the victim suffered multiple blunt force injuries. He was rushed to Westmoreland Hospital where he was pronounced deceased about an hour later. Officials noted he was not wearing a helmet at the time of the wreck.

An investigation remains in progress, but authorities said speed appears to have been a factor in the crash.
