News: Motorcyclist dies after crash on PA-380 in Washington Township

WESTMORELAND COUNTY, PA — A 34-year-old Shelocta man died Monday afternoon after a motorcycle accident on Route 380 in Washington Township, according to WTAE.

The collision took place on the 1200 block of the westbound highway (Fairview Drive) just east of Route 780. It was reported shortly before 4:18 p.m.

Investigators say the man was driving a 2003 Yamaha motorcycle westbound at a high rate of speed. At one point, the bike failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway and hit a guardrail.

The Westmoreland County Coroner said the rider was pronounced deceased after sustaining “blunt force trauma injuries.” He was found to have been wearing a helmet at the time of the wreck.

The Washington Township Police Department continues to investigate.
