News: Multi-vehicle crash blocks lane on I-279 NB in downtown Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH, PA — Authorities responded to a multi-vehicle wreck Monday morning on Interstate 279 near Point State Park in downtown Pittsburgh, according to 511PA Pittsburgh.

The accident happened at the beginning of the northbound interstate, before Fort Duquesne Bridge. It was first recorded by 511PA at 7:24 a.m.

Local agencies have not disclosed the cause of the collision, but the lane restriction remained in place for nearly 30 minutes.


At 7:52 a.m., crews had cleared the scene from the roadway and all lanes were announced reopened to traffic.


It was not immediately clear whether anyone was seriously hurt.
