News: Multi-vehicle crash closes lane on I-79 SB near west Pittsburgh

ALLEGHENY COUNTY, PA — A multi-vehicle wreck was reported Thursday morning on Interstate 79 near west Pittsburgh, according to 511PA Pittsburgh.

The accident happened on the southbound lanes at milepost 59, about a mile north of Interstate 376 (Penn-Lincoln Parkway). It was first reported by 511PA shortly before 8:30 a.m.

Authorities have not shared further specific details regarding the circumstances, but at least one lane was blocked for over two hours, suggesting a serious crash.


By 10:56 a.m., crews had cleared the scene from the roadway and all lanes were reopened to traffic.
