News: Rollover semi crash, banana spill closes part of I-76 WB near Irwin

WESTMORELAND COUNTY, PA — A tractor-trailer overturned Friday morning, causing a load of bananas to spill across Interstate 76 near Irwin, according to WPXI.

The accident occurred on the westbound lanes of I-76 (Pennsylvania Turnpike) near the Irwin exit and was first reported by 511PA Statewide shortly after 6:00 a.m.

It was unclear what events led up to the crash, but the big rig veered off the roadway and came to rest on its side. Westmoreland County officials said no one had to be transported to a hospital from the scene.

All westbound lanes of I-76 were shut down between Exit 67 to U.S. Route 30 and Exit 57 to U.S. Route 22.
