News: Toddler fatally hit by vehicle at North Versailles apartment complex

ALLEGHENY COUNTY, PA — A 1-year-old girl died late Tuesday afternoon after being struck by a vehicle in the parking lot of a North Versailles apartment complex, according to WPXI.

Allegheny County police said the fatal incident took place at Eastland Apartments, in the 900 block of East Pittsburgh-McKeesport Boulevard. Officers and first responders were called to the scene at about 4:27 p.m.

Preliminary details indicate Ariel Coover, the victim’s mother, was waiting for a ride in the lot with her four young children when the 1-year-old was hit by a vehicle that was pulling out of the area.

Authorities said first responders arrived to find the victim deceased at the scene.

The driver stayed at the scene and was cooperating with an investigation, which remains ongoing. A silver SUV was towed from the lot in the aftermath of the event.

No information regarding pending charges has been released at this time.
