News: Worker dies after garbage truck crash in Adams Township

BUTLER COUNTY, PA — A man died early Friday after the garbage truck he was driving hit another waste truck and a building in Adams Township, reports Cranberry Eagle.

The fatal wreck occurred at 441 Mars-Valencia Road shortly before 4:30 a.m.

It was unclear what caused the accident, but the man’s Waste Management truck first collided with another waste truck. The impact of the crash sent his own truck into a building, leaving him trapped in the wreckage.

The patient was rushed to Cranberry Township’s UPMC Passavant Hospital. Later that morning, Adams Township Police confirmed the man, 53, had died as a result of his injuries.

It was unclear whether the other driver was hurt.

A section of Mars-Valencia Road remained closed until at least 10:30 a.m. as Butler County’s structural collapse team and Adams Area Fire District crews worked to remove the truck from the building.

No updates have been released at this time.
