News: Young woman critically hurt as vehicle slams into Brentwood building

ALLEGHENY COUNTY, PA — A 20-year-old woman was hospitalized early Monday after her vehicle crashed off Route 51 and into a building in Brentwood, reports WPXI.

The accident occurred at the highway intersection with Brownsville Road, just northeast of South Hills Country Club. It was first reported shortly before 3:00 a.m.

According to officials, the young woman was driving when she lost control and overcorrected the vehicle, causing it to strike the building.

First responders arrived to find the female driver unconscious in the vehicle, which had caught fire following the crash. The victim was extricated from the vehicle before being rushed to an area hospital where she was listed in critical condition.

No other injuries were reported from anyone in the building, which houses two businesses and an apartment on the third floor, though part of the structure was left in pieces. Burned debris was also observed on the ground near the building.

No other information has been provided at this time.
