Where to Turn If You’ve Been Injured by a Tristar Pressure Cooker

Throughout the country, many people have been injured by exploding pressure cookers. For example, a two-year-old girl in Florida had to undergo a leg amputation as a result of severe burns caused by an exploding pressure cooker. A two-year-old boy in Texas received second-degree burns over 14% of his body. Adults have also been severely burned and scarred.

Accidents from pressure cookers have caused injuries that require months to heal and can cause permanent scarring or disfigurement. Such injuries may also require extensive medical visits, surgery, physical therapy, and skin grafts. Victims may accrue large medical bills and suffer lost wages due to medical care needs.

What Is a Pressure Cooker?

Pressure cookers have been rising in popularity in recent years due to their fast cooking times and the meals prepared in the cooker retain more nutrients vs. conventional slower cooking methods.

Inside a pressure cooker, temperatures can be up to 266 degrees Fahrenheit. Although pressure cookers have steam release valves that should be releasing pressure before the cookers are able to be opened, there have been many reports claiming that they explode before opening, or they can be unlocked/opened while high pressure and steam remain in the cooker.

These sudden explosions have been known to cause serious burns on the person operating the pressure cooker along with extensive property damage.

Is There a Tristar Pressure Cooker XL Recall?

Pressure cookers should be safe and are used in millions of homes. Unfortunately, however, some manufacturers have failed to make them as safe as they need to be. As a result, an increasing number of lawsuits are being filed by victims across the country who have been injured by defective pressure cookers.

Tristar pressure cookers, for example, have frequently been the subject of complaints. To date, there has been no Tristar Pressure Cooker Recall issued by the manufacturer as of this article date. However, these pressure cookers have been the subject of multiple reports on the Safer Products database compiled by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). Consumers report Tristar pressure cooker explosions and steam burns even if they unplug the product before they open it.
